Artist Biography

I grew up in a family of four artistically inclined siblings. I was born in San Antonio, Texas, lived in the foothills of the Rockies in Colorado throughout elementary school, and spent high school in the southeastern United States. As a child everything around me was a tool to connect the concrete world to my imagination and creativity. Visual art was a good way for me to express how I interpreted the world. As I got older I realized that my over-active imagination made it very easy for me to connect with children. I enjoy being around their inherent creativity, so I chose to become an art teacher.

Being an art education major allowed me to explore many different areas of studio art instead focusing specifically on one. I enjoy the variety of processes, and move from one studio to the other often. My work tends to have organic shapes and a high sensitivity to light expressing a more impressionistic feeling. My interest in subject matter for my artwork reflects my interest in being teacher. My works of art have childlike qualities, expressing a perspective that is straightforward and geniune.
